SUBJECT: FBI Announcement of CIA Espionage Arrest
1. On Thursday, 11 July 1985,, at 9:05 a.m. I called John
Plashal, HAC Defense Subcommittee,
and told him that-at 10:00 a.m. the FBI was to
announce the arrest of a CIA: employee and a resident alien on
espionage charges. The employee, a woman, met the alien while
serving at an African post. They became lovers and he
eventually gave him information about intelligence operations in
her locality. I told John we would supply further i formation
if he needed it and asked him to alert Chairman Adda bo. He
said he would.
2. At 9:25 a.m. I gave the same information to Susan
Shekmar, SAC Defense Subcommittee, over a secure line.
