Our morning speakers will include Secretary of State George Shultz, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Dante Fascell, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Lee Hamilton. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan has agreed to address our luncheon, which will be followed by an afternoon session including Congressman Henry Hyde, Congressman Richard Cheney (formerly Chief of Staff of the White House), and several other distinguished individuals.' We also expect to h ave an outstanding dinner speaker, but are awaiting final appro- val before his name can be announced. A more detailed agenda will be provided to those expressing an interest in the conference in the near future. All sessions of the conference will take place in the Colonial Room of the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. This is the second in what we hope will become a series of joint conferences cosponsored by the Standing Committee on Law and National Security and the Committee on Executive-Congressional Rela- tions of the Section of International Law and Practice. The pro- ceedings from last May's conference on "Congress, the President, and Foreign Policy" were published earlier this year. The May 23rd conference will provide a vehicle for the most senior representatives of both political branches of our government to exchange views on the causes and consequences of partisanship, and to suggest steps that might be taken on both sides to improve the Executive-Congressional relationship in the national security arena. We believe this will be an historic opportunity, and we invite you to take part. There will be an opportunity to question each speaker from the floor. There will be no charge for attending the general sessions of the conference, and only a nominal.charge of $10 for lunch and $15 for dinner. For security reasons, everyone present must be regis- tered. Limitations on space will restrict the conference to no more than 100-participants, so if you wish to be included I urge you to mail in the enclosed reservation form immediately. If you have any questions, please telephone Mrs. Mary Lee at (202) 543-5445. Sincerely, ~ ? ~ c . . . , A/I & x . John Norton.
