Dear Mr. Frey:
Enclosed for your review and approval is a copy of an
unclassified statement for the record in support of H.R. 2019
for submission to the Subcommittee on Civil Service of the
House Post Office and Civil Service Committee. The bill
provides benefits for government employees who are captured or
kidnapped as a result of hostile action against the United
States.
The hearing on H.R. 2019 is scheduled before the Civil
Service Subcommittee for 12 June 1985. No witness will appear
for the Central Intelligence Agency and our participation will
be limited to the enclosed statement by Mr. Robert Magee,
Director of Personnel. We ask for your timely approval so that
the statement can be released in time for the hearing.
