NIO/AL(Hans Heymann) attended a dinner discussion at the Carnegie
Endowment on "US Foreign Policy in the 1980s" with Robert Lieber
(Georgetown University), William Schneider (AEI), and Steve Van Evera
(Princeton) as lead panelists.
NIO/AL(Hans Heymann) met with Herman Kahn (Hudson Institute) to
discuss their concept of "The Great Transition." Kahn believes that all
the indicators point to a US in the early stages of a massive economic
revitalization with high growth rates lasting for the next 15-20 years.
Heymann also met with Ambassador Gerald Helman (Undersecretary
Eagleburger's deputy) to prepare for an encounter next Monday with
editorial staffs of the New Yorg Timej and the Wall Street Journal on
ANIO/Au briefed staffers of the House Foreign
Affairs Committee on recent developments in the nuclear programs of
India, Pakistan, and Libya.
NIO/AL(David Low) attended the monthly State Department Interagency
Nuclear Export Policy Review Meeting with ANIO/A and
participated in the HFAC Briefing.
Low continued making courtesy calls on Agency officials,
particularly those dealing with proliferation, in OALA, OSWR, JAEIC, DO,
General Counsel, and our contact at Livermore Laboratories, Richard
Eddy.
Low began work and made contacts with Agency supporting officers
and analysts on a special project for the DCI relating to the economy in
specific Latin American countries.
