Embassy Hague has produced a most helpful and insightful cable on the
impacts of the Iceland talks on Dutch politics. The NSC staff also noted
that report in a recent talk with Barry Horton, Chairman of the NIC.
Reflecting on that cable has prompted us to consider raising the issue
as a broad agenda item for our November Warning and Forecast Meeting. We
would need similar input from the other major Western European embassies,
as well as from the military commands and the various disarmament teams.
Ideally, contributions should be in Washington by mid-November.
Thanks for your help and please convey our appreciation to Embassy
Hague for a job well done.
