You asked this morning about the latest polls
on the German elections.
An EMNID Institute poll conducted January 17-21
on voter preferences indicated the following in-
tentions.
CDU/CSU - 47 percent
SPD - 42 percent
FDP - 5 percent
Greens - 5 percent
0
The trend suggests that the FDP is gaining
strength while the Greens are losing support,
presumably to the SPD. Equally interesting is the
response to the question "Who would you prefer as
Chancellor?" Fifty-two percent preferred Kohl
and forty-one percent preferred Vogel.
