I wish to commend you on your drafting of the Estimate on
the President's trip to China. It was sharply focused on the
political and economic questions surrounding the President's
visit, and the timing of the publication was appropriate.
This is exactly the type of analysis which the Intelligence
Community must make available to senior policy makers. Because
of its quality and timeliness, copies of.the Estimate were sent
directly to the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of
State, the Secretary of Defense, and the Assistant to the
President for National Security Affairs. I commend you for the
highly professional quality of your work in drafting this
Estimate. Keep up the good work.
