STAT
Re: Security Committee (SECOM) Charter
This is in response to your letter of June 9, 1982 (IC 82-3446),
regarding the wording for Section 2.b(2) of the proposed SECOM
Charter.
Please be advised that the suggested wording contained herein
has been internally staffed with representatives of the Office
of Intelligence Policy and Review, the Criminal Division and
the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
We recommend that the existing language proposed for Section
2.b(2) in your letter be deleted, subparagraphs 2.b(3-6) be
renumbered as 2.b(2-5), and the following be added as 2.c
(existing subparagraphs 2.c and 2.d would be renumbered as
2.d and 2.e, respectively):
c. "Establish policies for the conduct of
preliminary inquiries within the
Intelligence Community of unauthorized
disclosures of intelligence information
and for assessments of the impact of
such disclosures on the intelligence
process; and to develop corrective
security measures to preclude such
recurrence of unauthorized disclosures."
Should you wish to discuss this proposal with me, you may reach
me on 633-2094.
Sincerely,
STAT
