We appreciate your letter of~22 July which forwarded the material
relatin4 to the Foreign Service Institute and to our meeting at
The material you enclosed is of considerable interest
to us. I share your hope that our meeting was the
beginning of a closer relationship among a Government foreign
operations agencies.
We believe that it would be useful for you in your new role to
become more familiar with. CIA's training program, and I would hope that
you could find some time after Labor Day for this purpose. What I
envisage is roughly a half of a day here at the Chamber of Commerce
Building in Arlington and then separately, the better part of a day to
visit our remote training facility. I believe you are somewhat familiar
with this latter facility since I understand you attended an Ambassadorial
Seminar there. prior to assuming your last post.
