Approved For Release 2007/05/15: CIA-RDP88-01070R000100400009-2 RADIO N REPORTS, INC. STATION WEAM Radio Mutual Network DATE October 13, 1982 9:00 AM CITY Washington, DC CIA Intelligence on Pipeline Workers JACK ANDERSON: White House officials claim the Soviet Union is using slave labor to build its controversial pipeline. But can the Reagan Administration back up the charge? Here is the Inside Story. Administration hardliners are determined to throw a wrench in the works of the Soviet Union's natural gas pipeline. Top White House officials have accused the Soviet Union of using slave labor to work on the pipeline. But let me tell you a secret. President Reagan could be embarrassed by these allegations. My sources tell me Administration experts have failed to substantiate the charges. Super secret spy satellites began photographing suspected sites but no solid evidence has been found to prove the allegations. CIA intelligence reports that Vietnam is shipping young men to work on the pipeline as payment for military supplies. They are supposed to be volunteers. It is doubtful they had any choice.
