Ruling on CIA Projects
DAN RATHER: A wide-reaching Supreme Court ruling today
giving the Central Intelligence Agency wide powers to decide what
secrets it wants to keep from the American public, in general.
And in today's ease in particular, the justices ruled the CIA may
refuse to say who was involved in Project MK/ULTRA. That was a
top secret program in the 1950s and '60s that reportedly included
giving LSD and other mind-bending drugs to unwitting Americans.
At least two people died.
