Chicago Journalism Review to fold
The Chicago Jou,rnaflsm Review, the first magazine pro-
duced entirely by reporters to criticize themselves and their
bosses, will cease publication October 1. It had been founded
in 1968 as an outgrowth of a meeting of Chicago journalists
angered by what they felt was their newspapers' incomplete
coverage of the bloodshed and street violence during the
Democratic National Convention. The Review reached a
peak circulation of 9,000 in 1970, but presently has only 2,500
subscribers. The Columbia Journalism Review has offered to
assume debts, liabilities and the Chicago Review's subscrip,
tion list. Dorfman estimates debts and liabilities at about
$15,000.
