NEW YORK, N.Y. 10022
November 10, 1969
I'm writing in the hope that on one of your periodic trips to
New York City, you may have a luncheon date open to be our
guest of honor at the ESQUIRE Round Table.
Several years ago, we initiated these monthly Round Table
luncheons at ESQUIRE, to which we invite members of the
leadership community.
This is a very small, informal group, which gathers to hear
an outstanding figure in the field of politics, the arts, science,
government, etc., and discuss with him their own points of view.
There are no prepared speeches. None is desired. All remarks
are extemporaneous and off-the-record. We have-been fortunate
to have had as Round Table speakers in the past: James A. Farley,
Senator Jacob Javits, John Kenneth Galbraith, John Gunther,
Harrison Salisbury, Tom Wicker, Walter Cronkite, Truman Capote,
Dr. Ralph Bunche, McGeorge Bundy, Eric Sevareid, and this fall
Dr. Michael DeBakey and Governor Nelson E. Rockefeller.
We are now in the process of working out our schedule for 1970
and would be greatly honored if you could be our Round Table
speaker during whichever month is most convenient for you.
There is a budget which provides a $500 honorarium for the speaker.
Our Round Tables convene promptly at twelve and we scrupulously
adhere to a two o'clock curfew. We leave the choice of subject
of the Round Table talk to the speaker.
May I hear from you at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
