William J. Woestendiek, a for-
mer top editor of newspapers in
Houston and Long Island, has
,been named editor of This Week
magazine, which is distributed
in The Sunday Star and 40 other
newspapers.
He will join This Week on Dec.
2 after recently having served as
editorial director of publications
for International Business Ma-
chines.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of
the University of North Caroli-
na, Woestendiek served for nine
years as editorial director and
assistant to the publisher of
Newsday, the Long Island news-
paper. During that period he de-
velopedNewsday'sweekend
magazine section and, in 1962, WILLIAM J. WOESTENDIEK
won the national Sigma Delta
Chi f o r e i g n correspondence Houston Post, which won a Pul-
award. itzer Prize during his three-year,
