Attached is a letter from TIME
magazine which is self-explanatory, along

Also attached is a thank you note to
Bill Kelly for the tie and the portrait.

Thanks for being so kind to Barry Zorthian,
Bob Burns and me during our visit with the Admiral
on Tuesday. While we were unhappy about the fact
that we could not present Birney Lettick's original
portrait (the Smithsonian had first call;), I
certainly was pleased with Stan's reaction to the
"dye transfer" reproduction.
I was also pleased that you admired my tie
which, heretofore, has been worn only by our
international sales staff. i would like very much
for you to add one to your wardrobe and have included
ad additional tie for the director. Sooner or later
he is bound to ask you about yours and we may as well
take care of that anticipated request now!
Thanks again for your help, Herb, and I look
forward to seeing you again very soon.

Dear Bil1:
liow very thoughtful of you to send the
tie. It was doubly thoughtful to send a
duplicate for Stan, who I know will appreciate
your thinking of him as well. He was just
delighted with the portraits and has mentioned
them several times since you were here.
Please let me know if I can ever assist
in any way.
Sincerely,

P.S. I also like your shirt and your suit
and your shoes, etc.!
