Deputy Director for Intelligence

SUBJECT : TIME Magazine's European Business Leaders
Briefing, 18 October 1977
The DCI has approved the briefing for the TIME-sponsored
group of 29 European businessmen (see attached list) as proposed
in the accompanying memorandum. Eight TIME executives will also
attend the briefing. It will be held in the DCI Conference Room,
starting at 1600 on 18 October 1977 and will run for approximately
two hours.
The DCI will open the meeting and speak for approximately 20
minutes; giving a broad overview of the State of the World with
emphasis on East-West Balance, NATO, the Middle East, the Soviet
Fleet in the Mediterranean, and the Cconomic outlook for Europe.
We propose that each of you then take 10-12 minutes to describe
your respective roles in the production of intelligence and to
add any appropriate remarks on the world issues of interest to
the group.
A question-and-answer period of about 50 minutes will conclude
the briefing. Please feel free to bring along two senior agency
officials to help field questions.
