Pies, ' says Canadian. farmers' union Withdrawal of Andrew Ross, the Canadian ambassador to Chile, .was demanded in a resolution adopted at the fourth convention of the National Farmers Union of Canada held here. The resolution was adopted after the convention heard Hernan 'Ortega, a refugee from Chile, who spoke, in place of Mrs. Hor- tensia Allende. It also called for a list of politi- cal prisoners in Chile and for a cessation of the murder and tor- ture of prisoners of the Chile junta. Another resolution urged the outlawing of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in Canada. It accused the CIA of being "directly involved in thwarting the demo-', cratic efforts of the people of oth- er countries." "The CIA," it said, "has in the' past been involved in directing the social, economic and political future of Canada" and -it demand- ed "that all activities of the CIA in Canada be rendered illegal by legislation." The main thrust of the conven- tion was for controls over monop- oly, inflation and profiteering. Control of Canada's energy resources was urged by Roy At- kinson. who .was reelected- presi- dent of the National Farmers Union. He demanded that "we do not allow our energy to be wasted or exploited for the benefit of others." He also carted for nationaliza- tion of the railroad system.
