Central Intelligence Agency,
McLean, Virginia
Attention Mr. George Bush, Director
Dear Mr. Bush,
A good many thoughtful citizens are dis-
tressed at all the to-do about the government's poking
into its intelligence closets. 'Most done realizes
that some intelligence activities have to be discreet
and even secret at certain stages, else we shall never find out
an hang we need to know. Well, all that's elementary,
of course, and I'm merely setting it up in order to say
it's a timely subject.
I'm writing to ask if perhaps the C.I.A. has someone
up this way qualified to talk to o "' at one
of our regular monthly meetings. OUeea ache ormation
sheet.
We're just completing the agenda for our March 5th
meeting at which Connecticut Gov. Grasso will be the speak-
er, and the April 2nd meeting at which Connecticut Sen.
Lowell Weicker, Jr. will speak.
Could you supply or recommend a speaker on the gen-
eral SUbbject of Intelligence who could make a presentation
on this currently so important subject at our May or June
meeting?
We should be most grateful if you could!
Sincerely,
r Release 2005/01/12 : CIA-RDP88-01J15R000400160029-3

THE "OVER 6o" CLUB
of Madison, Connecticut
our group here in this pretty shore-line town of Madison,
Connecticut, _- about 20 miles east of New Haven on Highway 1-95
-- composed of men from just about every profession and activity
you can name:' retired physicists (including a nuclear engineer),
professors, pay'ch atrists, ministers of the gospel and of diplomacy,
business men of all kinds,, of course, doctors, lawyers, (no Indian
chiefs), chemists, authors, old volleyball players -- you think of
,some profession and we probably have one of them!
We are in our fourth year and the group has proven to be a
natural.-- meeting the first Friday of each month except July and
August for a luncheon, fellowship and to hear a top speaker on any
subject of timeliness and importance.
We have the most informal organisation you ever saw -- no con-
stitution, no by-laws, no officers, no Board, no committees, no dues
-- nothing -- and we're non-sectarian, non-partiasan, non-political
and non-profit, Since we never have any money we can't give any
honoraria - still we want the best speakers.
The First Congregational. Church-on-the-Green gives us our m
ing place free, our wives cook us lovely hot luncheons which we pay
for and they hope they clear the cost of the meal and maybe have
fifty cents left over. Our average meeting a tendance is around 100a
our group is -- or perhaps it just how it jai --somewhat
influential even if only in this town which has a population of about
11,000 -- with a good proportion of retired people, In political
coloration mostly Republi.carn.
We like to hear good, reasoned presentations on timely subjects
eople who know what they are talking about, and we give speakers
an hour -- more if necessary -- to make them. We simply want to be
authentically informed.
And that's why we are approaching you.
