Dear Mr. Haynes:
Thank you for your letter of 25 June regarding my talk to the
Rotary Club of Houston. I am enclosing a biography and photographs
as well as a suggested introduction which gives the title of my speech.
I do not want to hold a press conference prior to the meeting. However,
I will be happy to answer questions from the audience after my presentation.
I greatly appreciate your offer of letting me select guests for the
head table. There is no one in particular I can think of to add, so I will
leave the composition to your good judgment.
A s my successor is to be sworn in soon and my connection with
the Agency thus severed, you can reach me hereafter at the following
address and telephone. Please note that the telephone number is
unpublished.
I will do as you suggest with regard to travel and I will probably
arrive in Houston the evening of the 8th of September. Reservations
at the Rice -Rittenhouse would be just fine. I look forward to seeing
