RESOLUTION OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE SONS OF THE
AMERICAN REVOLUTION, IN CONVENTION, JUNE 28-JULY 2 1975,
AT BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY
WHEREAS, there appears to be a concerted effort among certain
groups, indluding part of the news media, either to abolish the
Central Intelligence Agency or to so restrict its activities as to
prevent it from performing its functions effectively; and
WHEREAS, there is a definite need and requirement in the Gov-
ernment of the United States to have such an arm of the Executive
Branch of that Government to investigate and to protect it, and
the people of'the United States, in regard to the matters that
either are not within the purview of the powers and duties of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, or are so intertwined with national
and international.matters of interest and intrigue as to require
special and delicate handling by the Central Intelligence Agency;
RESOLVED, that-the National Society of the Sons of the Ameri-
can Revolution is of the opinion and does herebydeclare that the
reasons and purposes for the existence and proper operation of the
Central Intelligence Agency are very much with the Nation at this
time, and that there should. be no downgrading of its activities,
but on the contrary, the Central Intelligence Agency should be con-
tinued with necessary powers and appropriations to perform effec-
tively its most important work under the direction of the Execu-
tive Branch of the Government of the United States.
