This is to confirm my conversation with your staff member, Robert
Hayes, that Director of Central Intelligence William Casey accepts
your invitation to address the National Defense University. He will
be available to speak to the students, faculty and staff members on
Wednesday, 1 . 5 from 10:15-11:30 a.m. in Dwight D. Eisenhower
Hall, Fort McNair. According to your letter, there will be an audience
of approximately 450 attendees, all with Top Secret clearances. The
meeting will be off the record with a 45 minute lecture followed by a
30 minute question and answer period. Unfortunately, Mr. Casey will
have to decline the luncheon invitation.
We would appreciate receiving any additional information on the
school, any brochures or agendas, and if possible, the name of the
individual who will introduce Mr. Casey. Do the attendees have intel-
ligence or operational type backgrounds? Could you possibly provide
us a map of Ft. McNair showing the location of the lecture hall?
A photograph of Mr. Casey and a copy of his biography are enclosed.
