The U.S. posture on Law of the-Sea needs to be formulated for an upcoming meeting at Geneva. See what kind of a contribution we can make to evaluate what outcome is in the best economic interest of the United States. 2. Also, it is important that we look at the North-South issues which will be dealt with at the Cancun Conference in Mexico this fall. This means reviewing commodity agreements and all the other-=proposals that come before.the UNCTAD group and take a fresh look at what position is in the best political interests of the U.S. 3. Also, what has OER done on gold production, the gold market, and on the Soviet Union and U.S. interests with respect to what may happen to the monetary and industrial use of gold?
