Thanks for your response to my request for concise information about what the committee is doing, how well it is doing, and how it might do better. I am impressed with and warmly commend the range of the committee's activities. 2. I would like to know more about your future agenda. Specifically, when I give my worldwide briefing to the Military Affairs and Appropriations Committees of both Houses in February, I want to be specific in focusing on where we see enhanced Soviet weapons capabilities emerging. Instead of telling them what the Soviets have, I'd like in this briefing to look over the horizon and tell them what we see coming in terms not only of new weapons but in enhanced capabilities for existing weapons and the strategic significance which these enhancements may have. Your report mentions the need for more work on conventional weapons. I particularly want to cover enhancements in 4. I would like to meet with the committee at its convenience and get a briefing on up-to-date developments in these areas and follow that with a dialogue to see where we can both be of greater assistance to each other.
