MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Intelligence

SUBJECT: KAL Shootdown
1. Can you get a more complete statement on the Thames television
documentary on the KAL incident and have it sent to McFarlane, together
with the Key Judgments or the Summary or whatever is available on the
operational im lications of the KAL shootdown. As you see from the
attached from the Vice President is anxious to get the
story so a copy of the package should go to him too. In light of the
prospects indicated in memorandum that the President is
likely to make a statement on the anniversary of the shootdown and
also the fact that-the Thames' documentary may be shown the package should
be sent over to Bud as soon as possible.
3. Attached are George Bush's notes on_the briefing he received.
