MEMORANDUM FOR: National Intelligence Officer for Africa
FROM: Director of Central Intelligence
SUBJECT: USSR and the Situation in South Africa
Thanks for your supplemental points on Soviet activities
with respect to South Africa. I think your comments are more
to the point than the original talking points. Could you take
the best of both and get it into a one or two page memo for me
to send to Bud McFarlane which would start out saying something
like this: "In response to the President's question at last week's
NSC meeting on South Africa, I pulled together the information we
have on how the Soviets are weighing in on this situation."
