1. The Director of Energy Research, Dr. Al Trivelpiece, called me
and asked that I alert you to the fact that the Secretary of Energy
planned to talk with you right away about the following information:
-- On 25 October, Foreign Minister Shevardnadze proposed to
Secretary Shultz that the US and USSR jointly sponsor a
multi-nation prototype magnetic fusion reactor.
