SUBJECT: CAMS P/S ADP Control Officers

1. A recent security audit of the CAMS system has revealed a number of
problem areas that can be addressed with the participation of the CAMS user
community. These areas include timely notification of COMIREX Staff of
changes in the status of users, i.e., termination, change of employment, etc.,
and ensuring that users are sufficiently trained in the use of CAMS and CAMS
security procedures.
2. So that we can better address these areas, and to help COMIREX Staff
to provide a more timely response to user needs, I am asking that each COMIREX
member organization provide an employee, or employees, to serve as the focal
point for CAMS P/S security, training, and equipment requirements. This
person will be identified as the CAMS ADP Control Officer. For those
organizations with numerous CAMS P/S users, one or more alternate officers may
be advisable.
3. The ADP Control Officer concept was briefed in greater depth at the
1 August 1985 meeting of the CAMS Task Force. Identification of ADP Control
Officers and Alternates should be made via memorandum to Chief, CAMS P/S
Branch, System Integration Division, COMIREX Staff, GH62, CIA Headquarters.
Responses should be received no later than 30 August, as this program will go
into effect on 1 September 1985. Questions about the ADP Control Officer
