these units is to assure that all of the major elements of the COMIREX are
linked together by a highly reliable secure telephone system. As you are
aware with the changing collection environment, even more near-real-time
tasking and collection will be taking place. It is important that the COMIREX
Staff has a dependable secure telephone system.
2. In light of the uncertainty of the specific location of all of the
elements of the COMIREX Staff, it is impossible to specifically identify the
building that these units will reside in. However, at the present time (when
all units are available) I would use them to assure I could contact each of my
two division chiefs and head of the CAMS Integration Staff. One unit would be
emplaced in the element responsible for the maintenance and operation of the
CAMS system. The other two units ild be in the tasking officer's operations
area in Washington F_ -7
