SUBJECT: Request for Travel--COMIREX DOE Trip n
1. The Department of Energy (DOE) representative to the Committee on
Imagery Requirements and Exploitation (COMIREX) has invited the Committee to
visit select DOE Laboratories during the week of 23 October 1983. It is
requested that travel funds be authorized for the listed COMIREX Staff
employees to participate in this trip. Travel funding for the COMIREX members
and consultants will be handled by their respective parent agencies. The
COMIREX Staff employees, with their COMIREX affiliation indicated, are as
follows:
2. The purpose of the visit is to provide the Committee members with an
opportunity to develop an understanding of how imagery is being used under the
and to gain
insight into nuclear weapons productions, research, and other energy matters
as they impact on imagery intelligence collection. DOE representatives hope
to demonstrate to the Committee their unique imagery intelligence
requirements. The trip will begin on 23 October 1983 and end 28 October
1983. Locations to be visited include Pacific Northwest Laboratory in
Richland, Washington, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory near San
Francisco, California.)
