an 11 June OGI-sponsored conference examining trends and technol-

the Commercial Aircraft Industry
1. Action: Your signature on the attached letters of
invitation to select leaders of the US aircraft industry.
2. Background: This Agency-sponsored conference on the
commercial aircraft industry is scheduled for 11 June 1986 at
the J. W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C. The purpose of
this conference is to clarify the issues facing the US aircraft
industry and their implications for US economic and national
security interests. In addition to leading business and tech-
nical specialists from major aerospace companies, we plan to
invite senior members of the Staff of the United States Trade
Representative and the Departments of Commerce, State, and
Defense. While we have broached the idea of the conference with
each of the participants and received a positive response, we
believe that an indication of your personal interest would help
in attracting the level of private sector executives needed to
make this a successful and productive conference. Your direct
involvement will convey the importance the Agency attaches to
this effort.
