SUBJECT: Traffic Safety Problems
REFERENCE: Memo for DDA from Lawrence Gershwin dtd

1. I appreciate your concern for the parking and traffic
situation in front of the Headquarters main entrance. The
angle parking spaces that border the roadway on the quadrangle
are a temporary arrangement which provides reserved parking for
senior officers temporarily displaced from the perimeter road
while new curbing and lighting is installed. Traffic
congestion was considered by Facilities Management Division,
Headquarters Security Division, and Safety Division of OMS, and
because of this, a white stop line and the word "STOP" was
painted on the roadway. In addition, there is a metal stop
sign on the right.
2. On 7 July 1986, the front perimeter road parking spaces
are scheduled for return to Agency use, and those persons
parking around the quadrangle will return to their old spaces.
At this time, two or three angle spaces at the end will be
eliminated to improve line of sight. Once construction on the
South and North Lots has been completed, all front angle spaces
on the quadrangle will be eliminated.
