Dear Bob,
A few days ago I was in Newport, Rhode tillod
and saw an old friend, Felix deweldon. Felix is the
sculptor of the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Seasee
Memorial and a number other other monuments here in
Washington as well as numerous ones around the
world, including the recently desecrated Truman
memorial in Athens.
Felix had heard that the Agency is considering
commissioning a statue of Bill Donovan and is most
interested in being considered to do that task. He
is a long time friend of the Agency and a number of
its Directors and would feel a special tie to doing
something for it.
Knowing his work well, I cannot imagine that
you could find anyone any better if you are going to
do Donovan. If you're interested in Felix for this,
