(visited
the ouliaing witn tive asbestos contractors in preparation
for a bid pro osal to remove asbestos from the first floor and
basement. advised that a bid would be awarded the week of
1 September and removal would start soon thereafter.
To enhance the renovation completion process, the plan is
to have the asbestos contractor remove the asbestos in three
phases, with the basement as the first phase. When complete,
the renovation contractor can start the basement renovation
while the asbestos contractor moves to the second phase--the
first half of the first floor. By using this approach, we may
enjoy partial occupancy at an earlier date than otherwise
possible. When the stop work order was given the renovation
contractor had forty (40) days left to contract completion.
After GHA award, the asbestos contract schedule will be
provided and a complete project completion time can then be
determined. The best guess on the normal time for asbestos
removal is 2 months, therefore, full occu ncy would be in
about 100 days. Again, an award mus a made before a sc ule
is-i entifie .
