For several years, we have been systematically reviewing all of our OSS holdings, with a view to turning as much as possible over to the National Archives in Washington, DC for permanent retention. We have already handed over more than seventeen hundred cubic feet of records, and we hope to be able to complete the review in 1986. Therefore you should contact the Archives first, since the records you want probably will have been accessioned to Archives before your request can be processed by CIA. Those portions of OSS records held by Archives, but withheld from the public because they still contain classified material, are subject to the mandatory review provisions of Executive Order 12356. Major portions of this material were obtained from foreign government sources and retain their classification despite their age. The OSS records will be in the custody of: Modern Military Branch Military Archives Division National Archives and Records Administration Room 13W, Archives Building 7th and Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, DC 20408 We hope that the above is of some assistance to you and thank you for your interest. Sincerely, Information and Privacy Coordinator STAT STAT Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/29: CIA-RDP88G01332R000901120005-4
