SUBJECT: Report of Significant Logistics Activi e for
the Period Ending 16 September 1986
1. Events of Major Interest That Have Occurred During the
Preceding Week:
a. In response to the Directorate of Administration's
Planning Officer's inquiry, the Office of Logistics (OL) completed a
survey of contracting activity identifying examples of support to
b. In response to a DDA Management Staff request, OL is
coordinating a review of the New Building Support Budget for FY 88
and the outyears. This task is in response to a Congressional
request that the entire New Building Support Program be reviewed to
determine where costs could be reduced.
c. OL reports that the resurfacing of the north lot at
Headquarters began on 15 September. Lanes A through C will be
blocked off for about three weeks to permit removal of islands'
installation of new light fixtures, and resurfacing the lot.
d. OL reports that the temporary guardpost at the George
Washington Memorial Parkway gate was erected in preparation for
construction of the New Security Control Center. Excavation for
footings wi in the last week in September for the new
structure.
e. OL reports that installation of the exterior curtain
wall glass on the New Headquarters Building was started this week.

j. OL reports that in support of the OIT Secure Grid,
Contel has started conduit installation for NPCPO/OIT in the 2D and
2C corridors of the Headquarters building. With the exception of B
corridor, all corridor ceilings on the second floor will be lowered
to permit the conduit installation.

29 September. The work will be done in phases with the basement
being first and the first floor in two sections. The contract has
an incentive fee of $2,000 per day for completion before`?S heduled d 4
o. OL representatives met with representatives of Gates
Hudson & Associates on 15 September 1986. The purpose of
meeting was to provide a schedule for removing asbestos.
s. OL has solicited quotations for lease and installation
of a temporary security fence around the Reston compound. The
fencing will encompass the buildings, and front parking areas during
construction, and will subseglue_n_tl_Y be removed. Installation is
