OFFICE LEVEL OBJECTIVE - FY-1985
?
OBJECTIVE: /Direct Office of Logistics Recruiting and Hiring.
PURPOSE: To provide OL with top quality personnel
interested in logistics as a career
STATEMENT: For several years, the recruiting and hiring of
skilled personnel in the various logistics
disciplines has been less than satisfactory.
Logistical requirements have appeared to be less
than the top priority of recruiters and have
suffered accordingly. With the recent economic
recession, government employment could have been
expected to rise. Such a rise, if it occurred,
was not noticeably visable in the logistical
skills. Now that economic indicators are
forecasting a more prosperous private sector,
governmental agencies will have to be even more
agressive in their recruiting.
Since logistical recruitment suffered in the recent period
of high unemployment, there is no reason to believe that things
will get better now. Quite the contrary can be expected unless
the Office of Logisticis can gain more control of its
recruiting and staffing. Therefore, it is essential for the
Office of Logistics to undertake a program of personnel
resource acquisition which addresses direct recruitment, direct
hiring, educational aid such as scholarships and subsidies, and
a development program tailored to periods both before and after
entry on duty.

OFFICE LEVEL OBJECTIVE - FY-1985
OBJECTIVE:7Improve commercial and Agency transportation
1?y-s-temt -for getting-employees to and from work
PURPOSE:
?
Offer an alternative to the POV by providing a
dependable and economical transportation system
for employees
STATEMENT: The premise is that if employees are provided with
alternative transportation to driving their POV's
which are dependable and economical, they would
probably choose the alternative methods.
This study should look at improved transportation from
fringe parking areas where there are heavy concentration of
Agency employees. The commercial systems should be meshed with
Agency transportation to provide for a total system for moving
our personnel in and out of our locations.

OFFICE LEVEL OBJECTIVE - FY-1985
Study Consolidated Logistics Center
Bring together all of the Office of Logistics into
a Consolidated Facility
The Agency has become a highly technical, highly
sophisticated organization. In order that our
Logistics support capabilities may be greatly
enhanced, it is recommended that the Office of
Logistics consolidate its functions into a modern
facility.
This study envisions not only a modern facility to include
offices, warehouses, etc. but also the incorporation of the latest
in state-of-the art equipment, and methodology. The facility
should be strategically located near major highways, airports, and
transportation facilities.
The study should include an action plan and a time table for
getting there
