1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: NEW AEROFLOT INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT ROUTE
PROBABLY INAUGURATED.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: ONE IL-86 CAMBER TRANSPORT WITH AEROFLOT
MARKING-7T DELHI PALAM AIRFIELD. THIS IS THE FIRST
OBSERVATION OF CAMBER IN INDIA. THE CAMBER, WITH PERSONNEL AND
SERVICE VEHICLES NEARBY, IS ON THE CIVIL PARKING APRON. THE
AIRCRAFT IS PROBABLY INAUGURATING THE RECENTLY ANNOUNCED SOVIET
AEROFLOT INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT ROUTE, MOSCOW - NEW DELHI -
PARIS. THE CAMBER IS THE NEWEST MODEL SOVIET PASSENGER/CARGO
AIRCRAFT AND CAN CARRY UP TO 350 PASSENGERS.
(S/D) DELHI PALAM AIRFIELD, A MAJOR MILITARY TRANSPORT AND
CIVIL AIRFIELD, IS 6.5 NM WEST-SOUTHWEST OF NEW DEHLI.
