1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: NEW HELICOPTER LANDING ZONE INDICATES
HELICOPTER USE IN THIS AREA, PROBABLY BY VIETNAMESE FORCES.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: A HELICOPTER LANDING ZONE (HLZ) IS IDENTIFIED
FOR THE FRS TIME IMMEDIATELY EAST OF PHNUM KDOL LOGISTICAL
SUPPORT AREA, IN THE KAMPUCHEA-THAILAND BORDER AREA. THE HLZ
IS DELINEATED BY FOUR LIGHT-TONED P NELS. THE PANELS WERE NOT
IN PLACE BUT WERE IN PLACE ON 25X1
S ING THAT THE AREA IS MARKED ONLY WHEN 25X1
USE OY THE HL S IMMINENT. THE HLZ IS PROBABLY USED BY
VIETNAMESE FORCES OPERATING IN THIS AREA.
(S/D) PHNUM KDOL IS APPROXIMATELY 29 NM EAST OF THE
KAMPUCHEA-THAILAND BORDER AND 22 NM NORTHWEST OF BATTAMBANG,
KAMPUCHEA.
