1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: AN INCREASE IN ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIERS
(APC) IS OBSERVED AT SLONIM HEADQUARTERS TANK DIVISION/AB AL-2,
WHERE A TOTAL OF 151 BMP APC ARE PRESENT IN TWO TANK REGIMENT
AREAS.
2. (S/D) REMARKS:I IA TOTAL OF 62 BMP APC WERE 25X1
IN THE NSTALLATION. THE INCREASE OF 89 BMP SINCE THAT DATE
INDICATES THE MOTORIZED RIFLE REGIMENT AND THE TWO TANK
REGIMENTS HOUSED HERE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF RECEIVING A FULL
COMPLEMENT OF APC FOR THE FIRST TIME.
(S/D) SLONIM IS IN THE BELORUSSIAN MILITARY DISTRICT 100 NM
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE USSR-POLAND BORDER.
