1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: ASSEMBLED FISHBED ARE IDENTIFIED FOR THE
FIRST TIME IN CONGO.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: TWO FISHBED, UNDER TOW, ARE NEAR THE
MAINTENANCE/ASSEMBLY APRON. THE TWO FIGHTER AIRCRAFT ARE
PROBABLY PART OF A DELIVERY OF 19 FISHBED FUSELAGE CONTAINERS
(12 TYPE D AND SEVEN TYPE C)`-THAT WAS FIRST OBSERVED HEREI 25X1
ONLY THE SEVEN TYPE C FUSELAGE CONTAINERS ARE STILL 25X1
ON THE MAINTENANCE/ASSEMBLY APRON. THE INTRODUCTION OF FISHBED
AIRCRAFT INTO CONGO WILL GREATLY IMPROVE THEIR JET FIGHTER
FORCE. PREVIOUSLY, THE ONLY JET FIGHTERS IN THE CONGO
INVENTORY WERE FRESCO AND FAGOT.
(S/D) POINTE NOIRE, A MAJOR AIRFIELD ON THE WEST COAST OF
CONGO, SUPPORTS BOTH CIVILIAN AND MILITARY AIRCRAFT.
