1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: A PROBABLE AIRFIELD IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
IN NORTHEAST NICARAGUA NEAR THE HOUNDURAS BORDER.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: A PROBABLE AIRFIELD IS IN THE EARLY STAGE OF
CONSTRUCTION 2 NM SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF LA ROSITA. THE
ORIENTATION OF THE PROBABLE RUNWAY IS NORTHEAST/SOUTHWEST AND,
WHEN COMPLETED, WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 2,000 METERS IN LENGTH.
SIX EARTH GRADERS ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CLEARING AND GRADING
THE AREA. AT LEAST NINE OTHER PIECES OF EQUIPMENT ARE NEAR THE
CONSTRUCTION. NONE OF THIS ACTIVITY OR EQUIPMENT WAS PRESENT
(S/D) LA ROSITA IS IN NORTHEAST NICARAGUA, APPROXIMATELY 40 NM
SOUTH OF THE NICARAGUA-HONDURAS BORDER.
