1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: A SOVIET ARMS SHIPMENT, INCLUDING SA-6
EQUIPMENT, IN ON E QUAY.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: A SOVIET ARMS SHIPMENT HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO
MERS EE-K = NAVAL BASE AND SHIPYARD. MOST OF THE MILITARY
EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE QUAY THE 25X1
EQUIPMENT INCLUDES 13 SA-6 TRANSLOADERS, 13 SA-6 CANISTER
TRANSPORTERS, 29 MEDIUM TANKS, AND APPROXIMATELY 75 CARGO
TRUCKS, ALL IN THE CENTRAL TRANSSHIPMENT AREA. IN THE EASTERN
TRANSSHIPMENT AREA, 16 MEDIUM TANKS AND NINE UNIDENTIFIED
ARMORED VEHICLES ARE PRESENT. ONE SOVIET 25X1
AKADEMIK TUPOLEV-CLASS ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF (RO/RO) SHIP AND ONE
SOVIET LENINSKIY KOMSOMOL-CLASS MERSHIP WERE ALONGSIDE THE
QUAY. THE LENINSKIY KOMSOMOL-CLASS MERSHIP REMAINS AT THE
QUAY, AND THE AKADEMIK TUPOLEV RO/RO HAS DEPARTED.
