SUBJECT: Appreciation for Speakers from the
Office of Soviet Analysis (SOYA)
1. On behalf of our Intelligence Training Division, I want
to thank you for providing outstanding substantive support to our
Regional and Societal Training Program over the past year. We
particularly appreciate your taking the time yourself to brief
the Career Trainees on the Soviet military as part of our course
segment on "Threats to the Security of the United States," and
then coordinating with us to choose a good speaker for subsequent
presentations on that topic.
2. Despite their heavy workloads, the following SOVA ana-
lysts and managers gave presentations on a wide variety of Snvip*
topics for several of our courses:
3. We are also currently in the process of consulting with
the Intelligence Directorate to learn what kind of training on
regional and societal issues is most needed. Several of your
senior analysts and managers have made valuable suggestions in
this context, and we will be checking with SOVA further as the
process continues.
4. Our Regional and Societal Training Program depends on
support by the Intelligence Directorate, and we hope we can count
on continued participation by the Office of Soviet Analysis in
the coming year.
