MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Administration
VIA: Director of Personnel
Director of Training and Education
FROM: Henry P. Mahoney
Director of Logistics
SUBJECT: Office of Logistics Internal Candidates for the
October Running of the Career Trainee Program
1. Since the inception of the Directorate of
Administration's participation in the Career Trainee (CT)
Program last year, the Office of Logistics (OL) has been
heavily involved in the program. To date, we have had two OL
officers who have successfully completed the program, and we
currently have four internal officers who are at various stages
toward the completion of the program.
2. When our training panel and career board met during
the summer of 1984, internal OL candidates were selected for
nomination to the CT Program throughout the following year,
with four candidates identified for entry into the October 1985
running of the course. Two of these individuals have been on
on PCS assianmPnts nhrnai_ nnr9 nn= is

for them is the October.1985 class. All of our planning and
their processing has been based on this timing. A fourth
officer, based in Headquarters, has been processed and has been
accepted into the October 1985 class.
can be accommodated in the Training Course
3. It is our. understanding that the prime factor
inhibiting a larger number of internal candidates for the
October class is the limitation of the number of students that
segment of the CT training. in order to maintain our
momentum and full participation the program, the Office of
Logistics agrees to waive 7is

that they may be accommodated in the October class.
Accordingly,. it is requested that these three individuals be
enrolled in the October 1985 class.
4. You should be aware that, generally speaking, OL
internal candidates are selected from individuals who have been
with the Agency one year or less. We value the opportunity to
take a brief look at these individuals on the job before
investing one year of full-time training. Our training panel
and career board recently selected six additional internal
candidates to be processed for CT classes commencing in January
1986. We would, of course, be willing once again to waive the
lfor any of these individuals if a ceiling cap remains on
that particular segment of the training.
5. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
