Thank you for your participation on 23 January in our Execu-
tive Seminar on "Intelligence and National Security Policy: the
Kennedy-Johnson Administrations." Your willingness to share your
thoughts on how well the Agency served you while you were
Secretary of Defense was greatly appreciated by the Seminar
participants. all were impressed by
your high praise for the Agency's product and how indispensable
you found it to be. This, together with your high esteem for the
capabilities and integrity of the Agency people you knew, went
far to offset much of the contrary folklore generated by the
Congressional investigations of the seventies. And, to hear all
of this directly from you with examples to illustrate your
points, was, I am certain, a rare privilege that will he remem-
bered for a long time.
We appreciate your making the effort and taking the time
from your busy schedule to help us in this Seminar. I only wish
that I had been able to be present myself.
