On 11 February 1987, a Headquarters Notice was published announcing the Officer-in-Residence Program (OIRP). In response to that notice, the Office of Training and Education has recdived inquiries from 22 individuals ranging from curiosity to enthusiasm. 2. At the Senior Training Officers meeting on 5 March, it was agreed among the officers present that the names of all of the individuals who had expressed interest in the OIRP would be sent by OTE to the appropriate Directorate Senior Training Officer. Upon receipt of the names, the Senior Training Officer should contact each officer to discuss with him/her in greater detail the type of program that officer wanted to pursue and what specific school, if any, the individual had in mind. Attached to this memorandum the list of names for your review. 3. After the Directorate has determined which individuals it wishes to sponsor and fund in this program, the names should then be sent to the CIA Training Selection Board for consideration. The TSB would like to have five Officers-in-Residence in the 1987 program. The normal length of an Officer-in-Residence Program is one to two years. 3. Please forward your nominations for the Officer-in-Residence 25X1 Program to ES-TSB, by 1 May 1987. After talking with her, I found out that what she is really looking for a mid-career type of assignment at a school. I sent her some information on the Harvard mid-career program. Was curious about program. Did not seem to be really interested in being considered. Requested that he be considered for the program. Interested in Logistics Management. He has a BS in Government. Would be interested in going to American University. Expertise in communications. He would like to be considered as a candidate for the OIRP. He is currently working on a project that he feels could be used by the caR Program. He is interested in looking into a program at MIT (if he could do it on a TDY basis). Field of interest is electrical engineering and computer science. I asked him to send me some background and some ideas on his proposal. 'ars Interested in doing research in engineering. ORD Is currently doing some medical-type research at a military medical facility in the area. Already has military officers approaching him regarding life at CIA. He believes he could easily fit this research into the OIR program. He is very interested. ORD Admin wants to know who pays for all of this. I asked him to send me some more information about his proposal. /FBIS 'OSO FBIS has already agreed to sponsor Mr. ? PhD/Math. He would like to be considered as a faculty advisor in the the Computer Science field in the D.C. area. He was already considering teaching on a parttime basis in one of the area colleges..
