Gates Deputy Director for Intelligence SUBJECT: DDI Activity Report 29 May - 1 June DCI/DDCI Assigned Tasks ALA reviewed and coordinated on a White Paper on Nicaragua and drafted a blind memorandum for Secretary of State Shultz. EURA prepared talking points for the DCI's meeting with Ambassador Galbraith. NESA provided the DDCI with talking points on the Persian Gulf situation and Afghanistan. Of Special Interest This Week At the request of the NSC, EURA with OGI prepared a typescript on "'Summit Countries: Views on Response to an Oil Supply Disruption." NESA provided Secretary of State Shultz with items he requested on the Persian Gulf situation for use in his meetings with the NATO Foreign Ministers anal briefed Senate Arms Service Committee Staff' on Iran-Iraq war. OSWR briefed the SSCI staff on the development of a future Soviet ICBM which will be initially testd in about 1987. SOVA briefed Fred Ikle (Under Secretary of Defense for Policy), Vice Admiral A. S. Moreau (Assistant to Chairman of JSC), and Major General J. C.
