SUBJECT: The Directorate of Intelligence Research
Program for 1984
1. Attachment I is forwarded for your information. A copy has also been
forwarded to your principal by Bob Gates for comment.
2. In order to provide a better perspective of the DI's 1984 intelligence research
program, Attachment 2 is a list of the formal DI studies produced and disseminated from
I January through 29 February 1984. Attachment 3 is a list of titles and abstracts of
research topics planned for production during the remainder of fiscal year 1984. While
the listing is not complete and some of the topics may be modified, postponed, or
dropped, the available information will provide your analysts and production managers
with more than just a title to work with, and should encourage more analyst-to-analyst
discussion and more thoughtful production planning.
