1. Please refer to Letter Contract No. OM-5400 between the United
States Government and The Perkin-Elmer Corporation, dated 29 April
1959.
2. The letter contract is hereby amended in certain particulars as
follows:
a. In Paragraph 4 - Provision for Definitizing Contract -
delete the date of 15 June 1959 and substitute the date of 1 August
1959 therefor.
b. In Paragraph 5 - Authority to Obligate Funds - delete
the amount of $65,000 and substitute the amount of $180,000 therefor.
c. Subparagraphs e and f - set forth below - are added to
Paragraph 1 of EXHIBIT "A" to the Letter Contract:
e. Experimental activities will be expanded to include
engineering breadboards and mockups. Design work will
commence on the particular system to be selected during June
or July 1959, and some of the detailed manufacturing drawing,
particularly those for long lead time items, will be completed.
Liaison with the vehicle manufacturer, film manufacturer
and the Government will be continued. Progress reports will
be bsubmitted on 31 July 1959 and 31 August 1959?
f. Provide the work and services set forth in the
Contractor's letter dated 10 June 1959, which comprise the
following Direct Cost items: Rental on leased area in Post
Road Plant,) guard services, rental of station wagon.
The following items shall be furnished upon receipt of notice

lines, receptionist-switchboard operator, maintenance man
and other items relating to the contract work.
d. In Paragraph 2 - PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE of EXHIBIT "A'"
to the Letter Contract, the date of 30 June 1959 is deleted and the
date of 31 August 1959 is substituted therefor.
3. All other terms and conditions of Letter Contract No. OM-5400
remain unchanged.
4. Please indicate your acceptance of this Amendment No. 1 to
Letter Contract No. OM-5400 by executing the original and two (2) copies
thereof. Return the original and one (1) copy of this amendment to
the undersigned and retain the remaining copy for your files.
