(COMMANDER'S REPORT)
1. The following are Commander's remarks on Headquarters Dir-
ected Mission 4078:
a. Mission was unsuccessful due to failure of primary
25X1A equipment after app two hours of operation. In addition,
the "X" band on the s inoperative due to a blown fuse.
'S" band and operated satisfactorily. Details on 25X1A
the malfunctions that occured have been covered in previous cables.
b. Pilot performance on this mission was
excellent despite pilot discomfort due to failure. of the aircraft
refrigeration unit with cockpit heating going to full hot position.
Maximum deviation of pilot from planned track was seven-eight miles
with the deviations occuring in category 4 weather.
c. From a navigational standpoint this was an outstanding
mission. The winds as received from Weather Central were very accurate,
this fact substantiated by the flight plan being zeroed out after seven
hours and forty minutes of flight.
2. No significant problems encountered or information gained in
executing this mission.
